Working for this established and international business, this new role has been created as part of their continued expansion.
Supporting the Business Unit Directors and working collaboratively with all stakeholders, the Commercial Manager will play an integral role within the management team, helping to devise and implement corporate commercial strategy, continually striving to achieve greater efficiencies and ultimately ensuring the commercial performance of the Company.
To be considered for the Commercial Manager, you must be able to demonstrate commercial responsibility working on behalf of a contracting organisation ideally incorporating some major electrical or civil projects. Together with the relevant experience to support a large integrated professional team through a broad range of commercial requirements, including:
- Full pre/post-contract management of complex turnkey projects, understanding the subtlety of different relationships and requirements that exist between contractor and client.
- Provide commercial support for bid teams, supply chain team, and implementation of a corporate commercial strategy.
- Identification and management of risk to minimise financial exposure.
- Providing wider commercial support and advice to other projects and managers, contributing to the commercial strategy for the business as a whole.
- The preparation of commercial terms for construction contracts and the commercial assessment of tenders.
- Leading commercial negotiations on key contracts.
- Claims management and dispute resolution.
- Providing ongoing commercial support during project execution phase including contract admin, change control and dispute resolution.
- Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of success in the development of key commercial contracts in a large scale construction project environment
The ideal Commercial Manager might come from a number of industries including Construction, Oil & Gas or Heavy engineering, with qualifications in QS, Law or Procurement.
A formal degree qualification or equivalent experience as a Commercial Manager preferably within a construction project environment is essential.
