We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Segment Manager to work on a long term contract position based in Manchester.

The role is a 4 day working week Monday – Thursday 6am – 3.45pm totalling a 36.5 hour working week.

Pay will range between £26 – £30 PAYE Per hour or the Umbrella equivalent.

This position would suit someone with experience managing a fabrication, sheet metal, paint plant, Machine shop or similar.

Reporting directly into the Head of Commercial SCM your primary task will be for the effective management of the Fabrication Segment which includes the CNC fabrication area, Press Shop, Paint Plant and all support functions associated with this segment

Responsibility for 20-30 staff from semi-skilled to skilled and for assessing agency worker requirements

The Role

Responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained in good working order using TPM where appropriate

The position will be responsible for the timely production of an extensive production portfolio ensuring all processes are safely managed in line with our zero harm policy to acceptable quality, cost, performance and people management standards.

Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental compliance

Achieve departmental KPI’s and financial targets. Monitor and analyse production data for adherence to production standards whilst identifying issues and opportunities for improvement.

Effectively manage a skilled workforce adhering to our Guiding Principles and promoting a culture of engagement to achieve an efficient and productive segment. Day to day management including recruitment, discipline, career development, training etc.

Produce and deliver components on time for Make to Order and Make to Stock requirements ensuring all processes are adhered to.

Have an understanding of how the segment aligns and sits within the business as a whole and to have an in-depth knowledge of all processes and situations within the segment you will be able to communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues at all levels of the business.

Attend daily production meetings and contribute with accurate and up to date information on the status of production orders, staffing levels and asset status

Qualifications

HNC Mechanical Engineering or above

The Person

Good knowledge of all assets and processes typically associated with a busy fabrication shop including CNC and conventional equipment

Production Engineering methods to help with evaluating current processes and to help identify improvement

Understanding of all assembly processes including CCP and FBA in order to appreciate the effects of production and quality issues.
