An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to work on a permanent basis for a large manufacturing company based in the Wigan area.
The annual starting salary is £41,600 per annum but with overtime and uplifted rates will reach closer £55,000 per annum, plus the companies additional benefits package.
The role is working a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern which involves 2 days & 2 nights (12 hour shifts) followed by 4 days off. In addition to this you will also receive an additional 20 days of holiday entitlement per annum.
Our client is seeking someone who is apprentice trained in a mechanical subject who ideally also has some electrical experience.
The Role:
To ensure the maintenance, servicing and repair of all equipment to maintain the continuity of the manufacturing operations and the safety of production personnel.
Responsibilities for the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
- Maintaining plant and equipment throughout the site.
- Working as part of a team and working alone.
- Utilizing own initiative to fault find & rectify problems.
- Carrying out reactive and Planned maintenance tasks.
- Utilizing CMMS (SAP)
- Becoming the H.V safety person on site.
- Safety of themselves & colleagues is a must.
- Housekeeping and ensuring a tidy workplace after work completion.
- Fast and efficient work completion, with the ability to prioritise as required.
Person Requirements:
- At least five years’ experience in a maintenance environment.
- Qualified to City & Guilds Level 3 standard with a time served Mechanical Apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience & Knowledge of servicing mechanical equipment is essential.
- Multi skilling would be advantageous (or willing to undertake training).
- A working Knowledge of PLC control systems is desirable.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours and to cover holidays and absences is necessary.
Responsibilities for the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
- Maintain the integrity of the site in emergency situations, power outages, Furnace issues and loss of critical pumping equipment.
- Mechanical repair and PM on a large array of equipment including conveyors, pumps, valves, gearboxes, high speed rotating machinery, ovens, pneumatic systems, powder mixing and transportation, steam and water distribution systems.
- Basic electrical work on motors, drives, contactors, switches, sensors, and basic I/O PLC fault finding and program downloads.
- Fault-finding on panel view controlled equipment.
- Working as part of a team and working alone.
- Must be able to work under minimum supervision
- Utilizing own initiative to fault find & rectify problems.
- Utilizing CMMS (SAP)
- Becoming the H.V safety person on site.
- Safety of themselves & colleagues is a must.
- Housekeeping and ensuring a tidy workplace after work completion.
- Fast and efficient work completion, with the ability to prioritise as required.
