We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager to be based in the Preston area on a short term contract, this role is predominantly within the Nuclear industry but will consider candidates from outside this industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an Approved Supplier system comprising;
    • Provide Organisations of local/national/international strategic importance, and
    • Organisations supplying goods and services necessary to the day to day and adhoc requirements,
  • Develop long term relationships with strategic organisations,
  • Act as a strategic partner sponsor, being a focal point (outside of any contractual dispute resolution process) for supply chain complaint/concern,
  • Audit and continually maintain the Approved Supplier system,
  • From the audit data, identify and assist continuous improvement and development of SMEs from the strategic organisations,
  • Develop, negotiate and maintain national agreements with call off suppliers to achieve national bulk buying economies and improve business cash terms,
  • Produce and continually improve business standard trade preambles for subcontract, plant & material buying,
  • Conduct routine audit of procurement risk assessments and project procurement files to ensure adherence to business policies and procedures,
  • Assess competence of identified Competent Procurement Persons including assessing the level of procurement the person is competent to conduct,
  • Conduct continual training of the Competent Procurement Persons,
  • Act as line manager where necessary and provide technical support to regionally and site based Competent Procurement Persons
  • Complete and support regionally and site based Competent Procurement Persons in completing Centralised procurement (distinct from project subcontract procurement conducted by project teams) of project Equipment, Plant&Materials, sundries, facilities management procurement.
  • Develop and maintain a system of supply chain health check
  • Act as mentor to a number of Procurement staff to
    • Develop their procurement knowledge and understanding
    • Develop their leadership abilities
    • Provide support in achieving development goals
    • Encourage staff to develop their personal competences
  • Support Bid function in negotiations with Sub-contractors on pricing and commercial details

Qualifications

  • Ideally Degree or CIPS qualified
  • UK driving licence
