We are looking for a Sales Engineer to work on a permanent basis in the Merseyside area.

Our client is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer with a background in refractories and/or ceramics or similar materials.

Salary is c£35-45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Duties will include:

Customer Identification:
Develop new business / sales from the existing & new customers.

Relationship building:
Develop and enhance contact base within defined UK markets within each customer / prospective customer
Customer Assessment
Obtain insight and feedback from customers about new and future solutions / opportunities for SGIC products and services including national & global projects

Test and Evaluate
Coordinate and manage trials, fully documenting results and disseminating to global teams ensuring that all appropriate information is reported.

Use existing clients to expand field of influence and network with new groups in each market.
 Manage time in an efficient manner scheduling own meetings and travel plans as well as appointments with both internal and external customers.
 Daily running of business in all areas.
 Communicate all knowledge gained clearly about customers and competitors through the LVO hub, monthly reporting systems.
 Provide clear price and margin management in accounts
o Follow guidelines regarding price and discount / rebate terms for all accounts and major projects.
o Undertake and negotiate price increases as per company policy by market.
o Maximise profitability by selling solutions.

 Undertake required monthly administration of accounts and reporting. This will include but will not be limited to:
o Coordinating with customer services and the end user to follow all quotes to closure.
o Support the management by providing timely and accurate forecast data.
o Debtors control and follow up with all customers.
o Completion of month report as per market managers requirements.
 Increase customer knowledge / awareness of SGIC products / solutions through visits to key decision makers, training and supporting marketing initiatives.
 Site supervision on installations especially in WTE & Foundry market.
 Comply with group requirements for Safety, Health and the Environment.
 Consider and implement COMPLY guidelines in all areas.
 Technical customer support in each market.
 Attend trade shows and make presentations on innovative solutions both internally and externally.
 Attendance and active participation in European and global management meetings as requested by the appropriate market managers

Experience preferred:

A degree in a Science or Engineering discipline would be a distinct advantage.

 Once in the position the postholder will be expected to maintain technical competence and enhance training ‘Boost’ modules as required. Specific work experience required to fulfil the role

 Previous Key / Large account management with technical products / processes.

 Understanding markets & practical knowledge of installation techniques

 Strong communication, relationship building and presentation skills with the ability to understand and explain technical concepts to senior director level

 Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

 Organisation, attention to detail and able to work independently

 Commercial awareness to understand the business needs and complete strategies to accomplish them.

 Effective negotiation skills

 Flexible approach to working to meet the business needs.  Computer literate – Microsoft Office Suite

 Full driving license
