Senior Payroll Advisor

We are looking for a Senior Payroll Advisor to work on a permanent basis in St Helens.

Our client is looking for someone who has previously worked or an outsourced payroll company/accounts.

Salary is c£25-30,000 per annum (depending on experience).

Duties will include:

  • Full end to end payroll processing using Sage payroll for own main portfolio of approximately 50 clients, with assistance on other portfolios as and when required to cover holidays within the payroll team.
  • Clients range from high volume and complex payrolls, to smaller payrolls with a variation of frequencies such as weekly, monthly, 4 weekly and also fortnightly processes from a variety of industries.
  • Auto enrolment – use of varied schemes including NEST, Peoples Pension, Aviva and other master trust schemes
  • HMRC queries
  • Dealing with clients
  • Processing statutory payments such as SMP, SPP, SSP
  • CIS administration and completion of monthly returns
  • Training and support for junior payroll staff

Person specification:

  • Previous experience within a similar role running full end to end payrolls. Bureau experience is essential.
  • Ability to work to deadlines with strong time management and accuracy skills
  • Good client liaison skills with a confident friendly telephone manner
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem solving and resolving queries
  • Knowledge of SAGE an advantage

Salary and Benefits

Hours of work : 35 hour week 9-5pm with early Friday finish

Holidays: 31 days per annum (including bank holidays) & Birthday off
