We are looking for an experience Steelwork Engineer for a permanent position on the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset paying up to £47,000 per annum plus benefits. Travel and Subsistence costs for non-locals are paid up to £205 per week receipted expenses (not paid if residing in the Bridgwater area).

Working as the successful Steelwork Engineer you will be an experienced structural steel design engineer with experience in the design of seismically qualified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery. This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.

You will be responsible for modifying and adapting the design received from the Back Office, substantiating the adapted design of the secondary steel platforms within the Nuclear Island buildings on the Hinkley Point C project. You will be working closely with the Client and the Clients Tier 1 Civils Contractor.

Main Activities:

As part of the Steel Work (SW) team, the engineer will assist in:

*Modifying steelwork platform designs compliant with the ETC-C, other relevant codes

*Maintaining Client QA procedures in delivering the SW design

*Working with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models

*Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures

*Liaising with colleagues in Paris (Malakoff), France

Business Travel:

*Occasional business trips to Bristol, UK / Paris, France.

Please note, there is no parking available at HPC site. Free buses are supplied from either Bristol City Centre or from the Park & Ride facilities located off the M5 Junction 23 & 24. There is also a Service Incentive; on completion of 12-month continuous service in post – there is a salary uplift of 5% paid.

Essential Qualifications

*Degree qualified in appropriate technical discipline or equivalent experience

*Experienced structural steel design engineer

*Experience in the design of seismically qualified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery

*Experienced in the use of 3D modelling and structural analysis tools

*PDMS (preferred)

*Navisworks

*RSTAB (or similar)

*Good communication and interpersonal skills

*Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative

*Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines

*Highly organised with attention to detail

*Ability to identify continuous improvements

*Fluent in English – written & verbal

Desirable:

*Knowledge / Understanding of PWRs would be an advantage

*Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects

*Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment

*French language skills – written & verbal

*Navisworks

*RSTAB (or similar)

*MS Office & Outlook

Security Clearance: BPSS level security clearance required. You will either have it or be eligible to attain it. The criteria is:

*Right to Work – Verification of Nationality, ID documentation and Immigration status

*Identity – ID Data check (electronic identity authentication – name, address, aliases, links, accounts etc.)

*Criminal Records – Search for ‘unspent’ convictions (Basic Disclosure)

*Employment checks – Confirmation of 3 years (minimum) Employment History / Activity
