Supply Chain Administrator / Purchasing Assistant

Supply Chain Administrator required for a permanent, full time position in the Knutsford, WA16 area. Salary is £18,000 – £20,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) + excellent benefits (see below). The basic working week is 37.5 hours (Mon – Fri, 8am – 4:30pm).

Job Purpose: To provide full administrative support to the Supply Chain Department.

Job Purpose: To provide full administrative support to the Supply Chain Department.

Day to day duties of the successful Supply Chain Administrator / Purchasing Assistant:

  • Create manual purchase orders via ERP system for in-direct materials/items.
  • Expedite PO’s for direct and in-direct materials in a timely manner, where necessary inform the Supply Chain Manager regarding any delays / problems to ensure agreed delivery dates are met.
  • Undertake regular general maintenance of stock cards, stock references and price information.
  • Creation of new stock codes on ERP system
  • Inform the Supply Chain Manager of changes in the price of stock or ordered items.
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the anodising process.
  • Ensure that all filing of customer and supplier correspondence is maintained on a regular basis.
  • Booking in and closing off works orders.
  • Provide logistical support as and when required.
  • Carry out where necessary all other administrative duties when required.
  • Deal professionally, competently and courteously with customers, suppliers and colleagues in verbal and written communications.
  • Assist colleagues with problems that arise offering practical and appropriate solutions.
  • Adhere to H&S policies and procedures and carry out all activities in a manner which is responsible and safe to yourself and others.
  • Develop positive relationships with all you come into contact with.
  • Contribute positively to your team and company morale and spirit.
  • Accept responsibility for the quality of your work and get it right first time.
  • Provide reception cover as required
  • To carry out any other duties as and when required.

To be suitable for this Supply Chain Administrator / Purchasing Assistant role you must have the following experience / characteristics:

  • Recent administrational experience preferably in a Supply Chain / Purchasing department
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Organised, methodical and attentive to detail.
  • Be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and ERP software.
  • Attention to detail and accurate production of documentation at all times
  • Ability to follow work procedures and instructions within a fast paced environment

Able to use own initiative to problem solve and be innovative to see opportunities to improve systems and procedures for time saving and cost saving.

The ideal Supply Chain Administrator / Purchasing Assistant will have the following skills / experience

  • Purchasing experience would be advantageous
  • Previous experience of working for an engineering or manufacturing company ( this is desirable, but not essential ).
