Technical Manager – Preston – £40-50,000 pa
Our client, a highly specialist manufacturing company based in the Preston area, are currently looking to recruit a hands-on Technical Manager to work closely with the Managing Director to assist in the next period of growth for the company.
This position would suit a candidate who is comfortable working across multiple departments, and who feels at home and thrives in a ‘small company’ environment. Though this is a small company, it is a highly profitable organisation, and there is a unique opportunity for the Technical Manager to progress as the business grows and share in that growth. The role will also suit a ‘hands-on’ mechanical engineer, who brings genuine enthusiasm for engineering and the desire to learn new products and industries.
The Technical Manager will have overall responsibility for the assembly of all products from bought-in components, including overseeing shop-floor machinery and being able to identify breakdowns and required actions. There will be further responsibility for the development of new and existing products, as well as testing (both internal and external).
Though the Technical Manager will be based in Preston, the candidate will be required to travel as needed for testing, fire testing, and sourcing parts. This may include travel both in the UK and internationally.
The ideal candidate for the Technical Manager will bring:
- Mechanical Engineering background
- Hands-on engineering experience and enthusiasm
- Good technical understanding (hydraulics desirable)
- Experience developing and improving products
- Testing experience (internal / external)
- Willing and able to travel as required
The salary and overall package on offer for this role is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
Basic salary is anticipated to be in the region of £40-50,000 pa.
