More people have been placed in work in the UK than ever before, recent official figures have shown.
Permanent work has driven an increase in the number of people in work, which is now 31.42 million – up almost half a million from a year earlier.
The UK’s employment rate stands at 74.1%, the highest since comparable records began back in 1971, and wages have risen 2.2% compared with last years average. Private sector employment, on the other hand, is the highest on record at 26.1 million. (2.8 million More working in that sector since 2010).
Unemployment still stands at 5.1%, which is the lowest in a decade. Whilst the amount of people claiming unemployment benefits is at its lowest since the 1970’s.
