Recent research conducted by Monster & YouGov indicates that over 36% of UK employers will turn down a candidate based on their social media profile.
Alongside this 56% of UK HR professionals believe a candidate’s online reputation portrayed through channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn will have an influence over whether they are hired.
In correlation to this the, research shows that two thirds of job seekers believe that a company would be more likely to turn them down for a role based on their online footprint. Also 48% of Brits say they are conscious of how their social media pages may portray them to a potential employer.
Not all is bad for the candidates though, YouGov research has found that 28% of employees have influenced their profile based on what they have read about their employer online.
