Last week we celebrated an amazing achievement, our Senior Payroll Administrator, Chris Lamb reached his 25th year anniversary here at GPW Recruitment. Chris joined us on February 1st 1998 as a Recruitment Resourcer and due to holiday cover stepped in on our Payroll department and never looked back!
Over the years Chris has ensured that thousands of our contractors have been paid correctly and on time. He is the backbone to our Payroll department. We asked Chris a few questions about his time so far at GPW:
What was it like when you first started?
“Nervous, at first. My interview with Graham and then Office Manager Nicola Nicholls was my first real interview since leaving university, but I was made to feel at easy from the start.”
What has changed the most over the last 25 years?
“We worked in a smaller office upstairs, as there were far fewer staff, not everyone had access to a computer and the payroll was submitted by fax, via a system I think was from Barclays called B.O.B.S. (I think). So it would have to be the change in technology and resources …”
What is your most memorable event?
“Probably the “business” trips abroad, Dublin, Marbella and Barcelona and various events at Haydock Park”
Managing Director, Gary Ward comments: “Absolutely incredible, 25 years ago Chris Lamb started at GPW Recruitment. What a brilliant achievement, for 25 years Chris has been the back bone to the payroll department. We don’t have the stats but I would love to know how many contractors Chris has been responsible for paying over the years, many thousands for sure. Can I ask everyone who has worked with Chris or been paid by him over the years to congratulate this awesome achievement, well done Chris. Thank you for your commitment”
