GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k Run 7th March 2021 Update

Plans are moving ahead for the 11th GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k run to be held on Sunday 7th March 2021 despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The organisers are using guidance from the government regarding social distancing and from UK athletics regarding the organisation and health and safety aspects. We are hopeful that at this stage we are able to once again tackle North Road.

However we have to be pragmatic and with the North West currently under Tier 3 restrictions which disallows social gathering, and not knowing how long these restrictions will remain, we have also been working on a contingency to hold the event as a Virtual Run on the weekend of 6th and 7th March.

At this difficult time the health and wellbeing of everyone – including their mental health is so important. The 10k is an opportunity for people to train for the event and to give themselves a goal to improve their health and fitness. This is the reason Steve Prescott MBE set up the St Helens 10k Run 11 years ago.

A virtual event would allow participants to track their virtual run on the dedicated app from TDL Event Services. This app is currently the best in the market and offers many interactive features for participants.

A virtual event would also be an opportunity for families and friends to take part and allow for entries from across the country and even from overseas.

You can sign up for the 10k run now with registration £19 per person. https://sthelens10k.com. Every entrant will receive a special commemorative tee shirt before the race.

The plans will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a final decision made early in the New Year.
