Despite his quiet demeanour off the field, Maurie is a fearsome player on it with a devastatingly powerful running style that was honed playing for Samoa in Rugby Union Sevens.
At the Saints, Maurie has been used as an impact interchange, a role which he undertakes to great effect.
He has scored 31 tries which, to the delight of Saints fans, have seen regular reprisals of his inimitable try celebrations.
He also made a try-scoring debut for Great Britain in the 2007 Test Series against New Zealand and played in the World Cup.
Injury curtailed much of his 2008 season and he’ll be back with a bang in 2009.
