Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days, 6 am – 6 pm

Job Purpose: This Electrical Maintenance Engineering role involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities to minimise downtime and enhance quality. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement of all machinery, equipment, and operational practices, in line with the business strategy, and ensuring compliance with legislative and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair faults in plant and site service equipment.
  • Perform planned maintenance and respond to maintenance requests.
  • Adhere to statutory checks and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) and capital projects.
  • Maintain engineering technical documentation and manage stores.
  • Train and support employees in shared maintenance practices.
  • Provide effective 24/7 equipment care.
  • Communicate effectively in engineering meetings and handovers.
  • Make decisions within the framework of site policies and customer codes of practice.
  • Work towards KPIs including Health & Safety, Cost (Performance/OEE), Quality (Customer Complaints/Right First Time), Service (On Time in Full), and People.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Recognised Engineer Apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical, or multiskilled) or equivalent qualifications (ONC/BTEC/HNC).
  • 16th/17th/18th edition
  • Knowledge of:
    • MS Office
    • CMMS
    • Pneumatics
    • Steam Systems
    • Hydraulic Systems
    • PLCs (Siemens S7, S5, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley)
    • HMIs
    • Robotics
    • Inverters
  • Experience in FMCG or the food industry (desirable).
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement techniques.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal customers: Health & Safety, Quality, Engineering, Production, Frontline Managers, Middle and Senior Managers.
