We are looking for an Estimator with good Steel and Architectural Metalwork experience for a permanent position in the Rochdale area. Salary of circa £35,000 to £50,000 per annum plus 33 days holidays including statutory, pension and 38 hours per week.

Working as the successful Estimator, you will have significant experience in the architectural metal work industry, with experience of estimating the manufacturing, installation and erection of steelworks and architectural metalwork projects. You will be actively involved in reviewing and estimating projects and you must be able to successfully identify and prioritise all tasks.

Metalwork projects include project fit out on end-clients sites. There is an emphasis on architectural metalwork, general metal fabrication and secondary steelwork.

Essential skills and experience:

*CAD literate in Architectural and Engineering drawings (using AutoCAD or other related package/s) – this is for reading drawings and the extraction of relevant data, you will not be expected to produce drawings.

*Word, Excel and Outlook computer skills for record keeping/data entry and report writing.

*Knowledge of steel manufacturing, installation/building, material components, building regulations, estimating and H&S.

*Good organisation skills and attention to detail.

*Strong analytic and reasoning abilities.

*Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills.

*Excellent attention to detail, good numerical skills and the ability to work to deadlines is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

*Responsible for producing priced tenders that are accurate, detailed, and competitive that are returned within set deadlines.

*Generate accurate, detailed tenders from client’s drawings, specifications and site visits.

*Reviewing supplied tender documentation including drawings, details and specifications.

*Some experience of Applications, Vesting Certifications, Variation Costs and Final Accounts would be an advantage.

*Constructing a logical and consistent price/offer using spreadsheet models.

*Production of consistent, error-free quotations to customers and assisting with any amendments in line with discussions within the sales team or direct contact with end clients.

*The capability of pricing to the requirements by understanding relevant drawings supplied, architectural specifications and design & build information.

*The capability of formulating quotations for architectural metal work, small structural support steel work, staircases, walkways and balustrade both in mild steel and stainless steel.

*Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities.

This could also perhaps suit someone with a quantity surveying type of background with experience of reading drawings who could be developed in to an Estimator career.
