When is it Time to Change Jobs?

Thinking about changing jobs? Unsure if now is the right time?

At GPW Recruitment we have many years’ experience in the recruitment industry.  We know the exact signs to look for that indicate whether or not it’s time to move on and begin looking for a change.

If you have already decided it’s time for that change then check out our jobs board for a range of positions from a variety of industries.

Do you Feel Valued?

Have you recently put your heart and soul into a piece of work or project?  Were you proud of what you achieved but felt your work went unnoticed or it was not valued?  If this is the case, then it is likely you will feel disheartened and unmotivated in the workplace.  It could just be that on this one occasion your work slipped under the radar.  However, if this is happening on a regular basis then it may be time to consider moving on to somewhere you will feel appreciated for the contributions you make.

Do you Feel ‘Stuck in a Rut’?

Have you been in the same job for a quite a while?  This can sometimes lead you to feel like you are ‘stuck in a rut’.  However, providing you are happy, there is nothing to say that being in the same role year-on-year is wrong.  But, if you are unhappy and feel there is little chance of progression within the company then it may be time to look elsewhere.

Do you Feel Stressed?

We spend the majority of our adult life at work so if we are not happy it is bound to have an effect on both our mental and physical health.  If you feel stressed, try to pinpoint the exact source of that pressure.  If it’s something to do with your work life, an issue that cannot be rectified, then perhaps it is time to move on before your health suffers.

Are you Under-paid?

Do you work in a role where many of your peers are paid more than you?  Do you often come across job advertisements for roles similar to your own but the salary is higher?  In the first instance, consider why your salary may be lower than staff in the same position as you:  It could be down to your level of experience, the length of time you have been with the company or perhaps you are still in your probationary period?  Consider these points and if you still cannot find a satisfactory explanation you may want to make an enquiry during an official appraisal before thinking about exploring other options.
