Job Identification Job Title: Buyer Dept: Procurement
Reports to: Procurement Manager

Role Overview

Supporting the Procurement Manager to control spend from all external suppliers ensuring all goods and services are purchased on time, to specification & at the most competitive price available.

Duties & Key Responsibilities:

o Work as part of the Supply Chain Team to support the overall achievement of business goals.
o Negotiate with suppliers to deliver cost savings without compromising quality or service
o Build sustainable relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
o Raise Purchase Orders against Requisitions
o Create and manage, a back order report to keep production & stores up to date of agreed deliveries
o Ensure Supply Chain governance and compliance are adhered to
o Become a procurement champion for the business, advising stakeholders of the procurement process and ensuring this is followed across the business
o Lead sourcing activities, as & when required
o Lead tendering activity to ensure maximum leverage is delivered to the business
o Keep abreast of the industry to ensure any risks or opportunities are identified at the earliest possible moment
o Resolve any invoice disputes
o Resolve any escalated supply issues
o Performance manage allocated suppliers by introducing SLA’s & KPI’s
o Identify & drive any cost-reduction and/or improved efficiency initiatives

Duties and key responsibilities: Health, Safety & Environment

In particular the incumbent will:

1. To support the Company in the establishment, implementation and maintenance of an effective company health, safety and environmental policy and that all employees, suppliers and contractors are made aware of their individual responsibility with regards to these policies.
2. Support the Company in ensuring the company’s responsibilities as employers under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and any relevant Acts of Parliament and Statutory Instruments are met.
3. Understand and fulfil all responsibilities with regard to the health and safety of fellow employees, suppliers, contractors, visitors and members of the public.

Qualifications and Skills

o The ability to engage and communicate with all levels
o Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
o Demonstrate commercial acumen
o Min 2 years experience of buying, preferably within a manufacturing environment
o The ability to identify opportunities, present recommendations & implement action plan to deliver
o Problem solver
o The ability to support cultural change.
o SAP knowledge
o Resilient & determined
